Balkan University Press is happy to announce the publication of its latest book titled "Two Worlds of Healing" by Sumea Ramadani.

This book presents a comparative analysis of addiction and its treatment across medical and spiritual contexts, focusing on the Psychiatric Hospital in Bardovci and the Saint Jovan Bigorski Monastery in Debar. Exploring addiction as a neurobiological, psychological, and sociocultural phenomenon, it examines how brain processes, mental health, and faith-based rehabilitation intersect in recovery. Using a rigorous mixed-method approach with structured questionnaires and balanced sampling, the study evaluates the effectiveness of both environments. By combining scientific insight with human experience, the book offers a profound understanding of addiction and innovative approaches to healing and well-being.

Sumea Ramadani is a Psychological Counselor, Clinical Psychologist, and PhD candidate in Andragogy at the Institute of Pedagogy, Faculty of Philosophy, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and the Psychology Faculty of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at International Balkan University. She is a Teaching Assistant at the International Balkan University (IBU), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, where she lectures in psychology and psychotherapy. Guided by the belief that “healing is not the end of the story but the beginning of a new one,” Sumea integrates scientific, cultural, and philosophical perspectives in this book about different worlds of healing.

The book is available online at JSTOR and the EBSCO platform and soon will be available at the Library of the International Balkan University.
