Biography

He was born in 1977 in Karamanlı village of Aybastı district of Ordu province. He attended primary and secondary school in Aybastı, and high school in Ordu as a "free state boarding" student. In 1994, he entered the Department of Turkish Language and Literature Teaching at Ondokuz Mayıs University, Amasya Faculty of Education. He graduated from this department in 1998 and in the same year, he became a research assistant at Ondokuz Mayıs University, Faculty of Science and Letters, Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Department of New Turkish Language. He completed his master's degree in 2001 and his doctorate in 2005. He received the title of associate professor in 2008 and the title of professor in 2013. He became Turkey's youngest associate professor and professor in his field.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Dursun ERDEM served in many foundations and non-governmental organizations during his youth and afterwards. He worked as a columnist on education in Milli Gazete for a while. He currently continues his writing career in the TURKISH PRODUCTIVITY FOUNDATION Journal and serves as the academic advisor of this journal.

They are international journal editors and their duties still continue. He served as an academic advisor at TUBITAK BİDEP, and held administrative positions in almost every unit of the university, such as dean, vice dean, department head, university board of directors membership, senate membership.

He is the owner and editor-in-chief of Turkish Studies magazine, which is known in academic circles all over the world. He has held international symposiums in Rome, Andalusia, Jerusalem, Bosnia, Bukhara, Serbia and many cities in the country. He has more than a hundred scientific articles published in academic journals in countries such as America, Korea and Turkey. He has more than forty scientific books. His most recently published book has been translated and published into many world languages, especially Albanian. His study on Samsun dialectology was accepted as the world's most detailed study done on a personal basis by the Swedish Turkological Research Institute.

He is married and has three children.
