Publication of the book "Kuzey Makedonya Kitabeleri"
We are proud to announce the publication of the edited book "Kuzey Makedonya Kitabeleri" by Ertugrul Karakus and Mehmet Samsakci.
Led by International Balkan University with the support of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia, and the Islamic Religious Community of North Macedonia, this book was a result of a project that reflected a shared commitment to preserving and interpreting the Ottoman cultural heritage of the Balkans.
This multilingual volume gives voice to the silent stones of history by presenting Ottoman-era inscriptions from more than 120 architectural monuments across North Macedonia in four languages: Turkish, Albanian, Macedonian, and English. Each inscription preserves the identity of a building, the memory of a civilization, and the shared cultural geography of the region. More than a book, this publication is a bridge between past and present, word and stone, people and place—contributing to scholarship, cultural awareness, and the international visibility of our University.
The launch ceremony took place on 19 December 2025, followed by an exhibition and academic panel at the Čifte Hammam in Skopje.
We are honored to contribute to the documentation, preservation, and multilingual interpretation of our shared Balkan heritage.
